Gretna Green

We are in Scotland!!!
As a group, we took part in a merry marriage ceremony, which takes place in the old blacksmith of the village of Gretna Green. As in the old days, one of the couples in our group played the roles of the bride and groom, and the other couple - the parents.

Highlands

We devoted this day to the beauties of the Highlands - Highlands of Scotland. At first we admired the picturesque surroundings of Loch Lomond. For example, the village of Aldochlay.

Then, in the drizzling rain, we contemplated the rugged beauty of the Glencoe Valley.

Blair Castle

Blair Castle

Scottish castles are rightfully called the most romantic attractions in the UK. And if the English and Welsh castles are harsh and impregnable, then the castles of Scotland seem to have descended from the pages of a collection of fairy tales - magical and graceful, like the palaces of fairy-tale kings.
All this fully applies to one of the most beautiful castles in Scotland - Blair Castle. This is the ancestral home of the Murray clan, Dukes of Athol. In the middle of the XVIII century, during the Georgian period, the castle was completely rebuilt and turned from a gloomy medieval building into an elegant house.
A garrison of Athol Highlanders is quartered in the castle - the only legal private army in Europe.

Edinburgh

Edinburgh is the capital and second largest city in Scotland after Glasgow. Ancient and beautiful, it attracts more than 1 million tourists every year, second only to London in this indicator.
Edinburgh has many sights and museums that you should definitely see. Edinburgh Castle, towering on Castle Rock above the city, was built in the 12th century. Holyrood Palace is the summer residence of Queen Elizabeth II, where she always comes every summer.
Edinburgh hosts the world's largest annual Edinburgh Festival in August, with several themed festivals taking place simultaneously. During this period, the population of the city doubles due to the influx of tourists. Most of the audience gathers on the Castle Esplanade during the colorful procession of the Scottish infantry to the sounds of bagpipe bands - the Edinburgh Tattoo.
